Learning how each of these areas can allow negativity to creep into your self-confidence, and how to counteract it, will put you in positive position to eliminate its affects quickly, and efficiently.

Develop Greater Awareness

One of the affects of negativity is its ability to shift your mental state. As negativity takes hold on your thinking it strengthens and suddenly you are in a negative state of mind. Remember, under certain conditions the mind is unable to distinguish thoughts from reality, so the first step towards counteracting any unwanted shift in your state of mind is to develop a greater awareness. Doing so will allow you sense a possible shift to the negative side so you can shift your state of mind back to the positive.

Utilise Positive Image Formation

Negativity includes images and thoughts which produce negative emotions as well. If you find yourself confronted with negativity understand you can change the outcome rather quickly. Instead of letting the negative thoughts, or images change your state of mind, shift your focus to a positive image. This will effectively introduce positive thoughts and emotions instead. The positive image should be one which is expresses success, achievement, and positive self-confidence.

Exercise Positive Self-Talk

You cannot expect to protect your thinking from negativity if your mental self-talk, or your speech are negative. Maintaining positive self-talk is important for stabilizing a positive state of mind rich with self-confidence. Such as: “I can do it, and I can be successful!” The words which come out of your mouth are just as important as the thoughts you think. Remember, you hear those words, and your mind records them. So be vigilant and keep your speech as positive as your thoughts.

Surround yourself with Achievers

The people around you and there words, energy, and actions can also be constructive or destructive to your self-confidence. If you find yourself surrounded by negativity you may want to find different friends. Remember the negativity of others can have a profound affect on you over time. By surrounding yourself with other positive achievers you will allow the constructive environment to promote and enhance your positive state of mind and safeguard your self-confidence.
