A resource I have found useful in understanding the concept of flourishing is ‘Flourish’ by Dr Seligman. Let’s start by examining some of the key findings:
The ‘what went well’ exercise (‘Three Blessings’)
- The idea is to set aside 10 minutes every day and write down what went well and WHY?
- The gratitude visit.. write a letter of gratitude to an individual; arrange to meet that person and read the letter.. notice their reaction
- Active, constructive responding.. ask a person questions so that they can relive an event
